Reading the Model Number
The model number is used to classify five different things:
| 5 | 5 is the series designation of "500 Series" |
| 26 | 26 is the actual maximum plug that this spade will dig |
| 3 | 3 represents the shovel configuration - 3 blade/4 blade |
| o | o is a frame classification differentiating between inside/outside framed spades |
| t | t is the blade type; truncated, semi-truncated and cone blades are the three different blade configurations available. |

Rootball Depth
This is the measurement from ground level to the bottom of the largest hole that this specific spade can dig. The measurement is taken on the vertical axis, not on the angle.
Gate Opening
With the gates open, this measurement indicates the widest that the frame is able to open.
Spade Weight
This is the weight of the spade only, without a rootball.
Basket Bottom
This is the bottom dimension for the basket that this spade would fit without any extra labor required. This spade could go into a basket with a larger bottom than what is listed, but it would not fit into a basket with a smaller bottom.
Average Rootball Weight
This weight is an approximate weight due to the variation of soil composition and moisture content. This weight will be on the higher end of the weight spectrum, but again these weights are approximate.
